Install AV5Why Investigator™

AV5Why Investigator is a hosted Microsoft Excel add-in. No Windows executable is required. The add-in loads its interface securely from Performance Recovery Group.

Before Microsoft Marketplace publication: Excel requires a one-time trusted catalog setup to install this XML manifest. This is a testing deployment procedure, not the future Marketplace installation experience. Your organization may require IT assistance.

Install on Windows with Microsoft 365 Excel

  1. Close all Excel windows.
  2. Create a local folder for the manifest, for example C:\AV5Why-Addins. Save the downloaded XML file in that folder.
  3. Open Excel and choose File → Options → Trust Center → Trust Center Settings → Trusted Add-in Catalogs.
  4. Enter the folder's UNC path (for example \\localhost\AV5Why-Addins only if you have explicitly shared that folder under this name). Select Add catalog and check Show in Menu. A local folder path alone is not a UNC share; IT help may be needed.
  5. Close and reopen Excel. Open Home → Add-ins → More Add-ins → Shared Folder and select AV5Why Investigator.
  6. Enter the email address used for registration and your personal activation key from PRG.

Already have a trusted catalog configured? Put the new XML file in that same trusted catalog folder, remove the obsolete manifest from that folder after making a backup, and restart Excel. Do not change your existing investigation workbooks.

Company-managed computer: Your IT administrator may need to configure the trusted catalog or allow Office add-ins.

Evaluation license: Invitation-based access lasts 60 days from first successful activation. The software itself is the same v0.7.7-1 build used for production.
